The Reaper of Souls expansion pack has brought with it many welcome changes, most notably Loot 2.0. Loot 2.0 heralded a huge initiative to make Legendary Gear more significant, and many items were added or changed to be more notable, either by modifying existing skills, or adding new game play effects.
Among all the piles of loot and epic weapons Reaper of Souls has to offer, these five weapons take the cake as the most awesome. Whether they be build-altering, flavorful, or just plain cool, these weapons set themselves apart from the pack, even amongst legendary items.

Kridershot
Kridershot is a straight-up fantastic weapon. In addition to always having a socket, the bow has the incredible secondary effect of transforming Elemental Arrow from a Hatred consumer into a Hatred Generator. Hatred Generators are often weak abilities that are only kept so as to provide the primary resource a class needs, while consumers are more powerful and desirable skills. Among Demon Hunter skills, Elemental Arrow is a staple, whether you prefer kiting with Ice Arrow, or fearing them with Screaming Skull, my personal favorite.
Kridershot turns what is arguably one of the most powerful consumers at a Demon Hunter's disposal into her primary attack. Not only will this increase the Demon Hunter's base dps, but it also opens her to use a new skill, which will add more utility or damage to her arsenal.
Shard of Hate
The Shard of Hate is an awesome weapon for a number of reasons. First off, it's sexy as hell.
Check that bad boy out.
Secondly, the Shard of Hate has an extremely powerful proc, which is inherently flexible to many classes and builds. Players can easily fit it into an already existing build, or create a totally new build to take advantage of each of the parts of its effect.
Finally, the Shard of Hate is a weapon that was designed by the Diablo 3 community over six steps. The community selected the type of weapon, the themes, the weapon's effect, and even the name. The fact that the D3 communtiy came together to create such a badass weapon is in itself definitely awesome.[1]
Coven's Criterion

This shield is an awesome piece for anyone looking to beef up. With cohesive and respectable stats pools, and an extremely powerful secondary ability, the Coven's Criterion offers a powerful incentive to taking up the arms of the enemy. Even better, the item seems to be aware of this fact itself, with it's flavor text reading, "By bearing the arms of your enemy, you risk surrendering that which divides you from your foe." Beautifully described. Overall, this shield is a great find for any class that wants to toughen up, but Crusaders and Barbarians will have to keep an eye out for it specifically.
Danetta's Revenge / Danetta's Spite
While it may technically be cheating to have two items for a single entry, this sexy pair of Hand Crossbows is too awesome to deny. Improving one of the Demon Hunter's best mobility skills, Vault, Danetta's Hatred is an incredible set that will dramatically influence how any Demon Hunter builds and plays.
While each of the items will individually offer potent defensive bonuses, when used together, the set becomes invaluable, allowing Demon Hunter's to add other Discipline-based skills to their bar without worrying about over-using the resource. Although these weapons might not have the best damage without a socket in them, the increase to movement and farming speed more than makes up for it.
To see the OP movement increase for yourself, check out this video that shows it off in Act I.
Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker
The sword that send a million nerds a-farming. This sword hails originally from World of Warcraft, where it was legendary even amongst the other legendary items. While Illidan's glaives and Shadowmourne were unique and notable, they never depicted the status that a Thunderfury wielder had. Blizzard's choice to include Thunderfury in Diablo 3 has returned the hope of owning it to all of those ex-WoW players who remember seeing it in town, myself included. If there is any legendary in Diablo 3 that defines itself as cool, powerful, and unique, it's definitely Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Wind Seeker. Plus, once you've got it you can spam it in trade chat, which is the real reason I want one.
These are just a few of my favorites from what I've seen in Reaper of Souls. Did I forget your favorite legendary, or choose one that you think is totally lame? Let us know in the comments below!
