Destiny 2 Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack guide: Gjallarhorn Exotic rocket launcher (2024)

Gjallarhorn is back in Destiny 2, and we’re here to help you get it.

The series’ most famous weapon, which used to be mandatory in certain player groups, comes from an Exotic quest called “And Out Fly The Wolves.” Gjallarhorn, its Exotic Catalyst, and the quest are all exclusive to the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack.

Of the two Exotics added in the pack, Gjallarhorn is the easiest to acquire. In this guide, we’ll show you how to pick up all the Wolfpack Rounds you need and rebuild Gjallarhorn.

Step 1: Visit Xur in Eternity

Once you’ve finished the intro to the Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack, head to Eternity and meet up with Xur in his treasure room. You’ll see his usual inventory and then an arrow to a second page. Tab over and grab the “And Out Fly The Wolves” Exotic quest.

Now it’s time to head to the Cosmodrome.

Step 2: Talk to Shaw Han

Go to the Cosmodrome and speak to Shaw Han, the new player vendor. He’ll send you into the new Grasp of Avarice dungeon.

This next step is going to vary in difficulty depending on your fireteam, or your ability to find two other friends to play with.

Step 3: Complete the Grasp of Avarice dungeon

The Grasp of Avarice dungeon is a ton of fun, and relatively simple compared to most end-game group activities.

Find two buddies, go to the Eternity menu, and select the dungeon off the Director. Depending on your light level and your experience, it could take between 40 minutes and a couple of hours for your first run.

When you kill the final boss in the dungeon you’ll complete Step 3 and pick up a Wolfpack Round. Time to go back to the Cosmodrome.

Step 4: Talk to Shaw Han again

All you need to do here is talk to Shaw. He’ll look at your new Wolfpack Round and ask you to find a couple more.

Instead of leaving the Cosmodrome, turn around and start making your way toward The Divide.

Step 5: Collect seven Wolfpack Rounds

For this quest you need to defeat powerful Fallen in the Cosmodrome. You could roam around for a bit, hoping to find some Fallen, but the easiest spot to farm them is the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector in The Divide. Make your way there and run it until you get all seven. They drop randomly, so you’ll likely need to run the Lost Sector a few times before you finish the quest.

Step 6: Talk to Shaw Han again, again

Bring all the Wolfpack Rounds to Shaw. He’ll give you another long speech and hand you some rocket parts.

Step 7: Talk to Banshee-44

Take your rocket parts and head to Banshee-44, the Gunsmith, in the Tower.

(This quest involves a lot of traveling and not a lot of doing, which makes it very easy and a little tedious.)

Step 8: Run the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector

Banshee will want you to go run a Lost Sector. But not just any Lost Sector. No, Banshee is sending you back into the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector — the one we just suggested you farm.

Head back to The Divide and run it again. You’re almost done.

Step 9: Assemble Gjallarhorn at Shaw’s camp

Take all your Gjallarhorn pieces and bring them back to Shaw Han. But instead of chatting the Guardian up, turn around and walk into his little base. Behind a small metal wall you’ll find some cabinets. Walk up to them and interact to assemble your rocket launcher.

Step 10: Talk to Shaw one final time

After assembling Gjallarhorn you still won’t be able to use the weapon. Head back over to Shaw Han and talk to him one last time. After another speech, he’ll finally give you the Exotic rocket launcher.

Congratulations, one of the Guardians’ most powerful tools is now back in your hands.

What does Gjallarhorn do in Destiny 2?

Gjally has some powerful perks in Destiny 2 and it varies slightly from its original (and Iron Gjallarhorn) version.

Gjallarhorn’s intrinsic perk is Pack Hunter, which increases handling and reload speed when near allies. Firing the weapon while Pack Hunter is active gives Wolfpack Rounds (Gjallarhorn’s Exotic perk) to all nearby allies who are using non-Exotic rocket launchers. This is a very powerful support perk, and the newest feature for Gjallarhorn.

Wolfpack Rounds is Gjallarhorn’s Exotic perk, and what it was known for in the original Destiny. Each rocket fired explodes into a bunch of mini rockets that swarm bosses and nearby targets.

Gjallarhorn also has an Exotic Catalyst that comes from the Grasp of Avarice dungeon. It grants a new perk that increases Gjally’s magazine size to two and causes Wolfpack Round kills to spawn a mega missile.
