Gold is one of the most important resources in Minecraft, as you’ll need it to eventually find Diamonds and safely travel the Nether.
The best place to find Gold Ore is through mining. To mine it, you’ll need an Iron Pickaxe or something more durable than that. Gold Ore can be found from levels 32-80, so you’ll want to set up a mine between those levels. You can check your coordinates by hitting the “Show Coordinates” button in your settings for Bedrock Edition and by pressing F3 for Java Edition.
When on the overworld, you can mine straight down to create an entrance to your mine until you hit a Gold-bearing level. Have some ladders on hand that you can place in the entrance so you can get out easily.
Once you hit an appropriate level, simply pick a direction and start mining until you see Gold. Make sure to place torches as you go to keep monsters from spawning.
Once you get your Gold Ore, you can craft nine of them into one Gold Ingot. You can use Gold Ingots to make Golden tools and armor. Golden armor is needed to safely traverse the Nether without getting attacked by Piglins. Only Golden or better tools can mine Diamonds, as well.
