Active Shield is worth investing points into

The shield converts damage into healing and like normal Quen will remove negative effects like poison when activated. As of Patch 4.0, negative effects will no longer be removed but instead drain Quen accordingly. So if active shield is used while under such an effect it will cause Geralt's health to regenerate.

I've found exploding shield to be rather useful. When using Quen's base form, it stuns those around you - when in its alt. sign mode, that's when it knocks back for it.
