Arachas Mutagen
Kill a poisonous Arachas as part of the Contract: Missing Brother in Velen. You can also get a random drop when slaying Arachassouth of the Orphans of Crookbag Bog in Velen.
Ekhidna are found throughout the game, including Skellige's coast lines
Ekimmara Mutagen
In Dragonslayer's Grotto, Velen, an Ekimmara random drops one (save before battle). Also, choose to be "nosy" as part of the quest: Contract: The Mystery of the Byway Murders and fight another.
Foglets are common, including near the abandoned town on Bald Mountain and in other areas ofNorth Velen (ex:northwest of House of Respite). You can face off with one in the Contract: Swamp Thing quest.
Forktail Mutagen
Via random Forktail encounters, including the side quest Contract: Dragon
Via the side quest Contract: Lord of the Wood. Or random drops in various encounters in Velen, including at a guarded treasure far east of the Herbalist's Hut and at the Abandoned Sawmill.
Nekker Warrior Mutagen
As part of the Contract: Strange Beast on Larvik, in Skellige, orvia random drops inside Kaehr Morhen Cave
Fight trolls in sidequests (instead of saving them), such as the Contract: Missing Miners quest. You can also get one randomlyfrom a Rock Rabid Troll in southeast Velen, near the bandit camp closest to the Crossroads marker, and a level 16 Troll near Trail to Yngvar's Fang in east Skellige
Water Hag Mutagen
Via random drops from Water Hags through Velen's bogs
Try Whale Graveyard and Redgill in Skellige. Red Mutagen is usually easier to get around Skellige, while a little rare in Velen, White Orchard and Novigrad. As for the monsters, Drowned Dead and Nekkers drop them like crazy on the islands.
Many ingredients are common and you just have to gather them in the wild or buy them from herbalists.
There are multiple interesting locations for recipes/torn-out pages: The Herbalist's Hut (Velen) & Gedyneith (Skellige), the Halfling Herbalist in Novigrad, and the Druid Gremist in Skellige.
The most efficient way to get red mutagens is therefore killing the Arachas over and over, after each meditation, since it's an easier prey than the Fiend.
After buying your 40th hatchery or 80th expansion, all upgrades of that type afterwards will have a chance to generate a certain amount of mutagen. The higher the upgrade level, the more mutagen that can be generated.
Like all special mutagens they can only be dropped by their corresponding creature, though there are only three ekimmara in the game, all encountered during quests:

In Dragonslayer's Grotto, where you'd go for Scavenger Hunt: Griffin School Gear.
There's no question that Euphoria is one of the most overpowered abilities in The Witcher 3. Therefore, it's definitely the most useful mutation. With Euphoria, each point of toxicity improves both the player's sword and sign damage by 0.75%.
Greater Mutagen is the highest. Largest buff is +160% total without the alchemy skill. With the alchemy skill you can get 60 + 60 + 60 + 45 for a whopping +165% damage or sign bonus.
Ancient Leshens are a source of Special Blue Mutagens and are a fearsome enemy to face. They appear in Velen and Skellige with the most reliable being the Abandoned Sawmill quest. Unless the player is desperate or ambitious these aren't recommended creatures to farm for their Ancient Leshen Mutagen.
1 Answer. The best way to get one is from the rabid rock troll on An Skellige. It spawns next to the fast travel point Trail to Yngvar's Fang which is Northeast of Urialla Harbor. It respawns, i got my mutagen after 5 kills.
Foglets are fantastic for farming Special Blue Mutagens as any one will drop one, albeit the drop rate is low. They appear wherever fog is and the quests The Isle of Mists, The Final Trial, and Echoes of the Past have guaranteed encounters. The best way to farm them is through the Contract Swamp Thing.
