The PvP flag indicates whether or not you can engage or be engaged in PvP combat by a player of an opposing Factions. If the player's PvP flag is enabled, they are able to be attacked and interacted with by players of the opposite faction. If the player's PvP flag is disabled, they cannot be attacked by a player of an opposing faction, and cannot attack, heal or apply buffs or debuffs to PvP-flagged targets.
Players flagged for PvP receive 50% less durability damage to equipment (both equipped and in their backpack) when killed by another player. Killing a player that has been alive for longer than hour will reward 4x the XP. There are rewards for players that have been alive for longer.
Flagged players also receive a 10% Luck bonus and a 30% Gathering Luck bonus. Durability lost from PvP-caused deaths is 10% less than other deaths.
When flagged for PvP, choosing to respawn at a camp activates an incrementally-increasing respawn cooldown:
- For each subsequent camp respawn, this cooldown increases.
- If the player chooses to respawn elsewhere (for instance, at a settlement), the cooldown will continue counting down in the background.
- If the player dies while flagged for PvP while the cooldown is counting down, the time increment will be added to the current value.
- This makes respawning at a settlement and running back into the fray a great way for players to lower their camp cooldown.
