Description
The Golden Pyromancer is a golden perk for the Pyromancer, obtained from the Golden Skincrate for 50,000, if you own the Pyromancer. It is mostly regarded as a support tower, though its high normal and burn damage also makes it effective against crowds of enemies. Its main gimmick is its ability to burn enemies, dealing extra damage over time.
If an enemy is set alight, the flames will be applied to the enemy until the burn time runs out. There are two types of damage the Golden Pyromancer can apply. The first is Normal Damage which is non-burn related. This can pierce through multiple enemies even damaging flying enemies, if its flames are large enough. However, the Golden Pyromancer cannot directly attack flying enemies at any level. The second is Burn Damage which is applied for every second an enemy is set alight. When an enemy is set on fire, it will be thawed if it is frozen. It also cannot be frozen while it is on fire. Both damage types can damage lead enemies. The Golden Pyromancer will attack any enemy, even if the enemy is on fire. However, if there are multiple enemies in its range, it will attack the first enemy that is not on fire. Unlike its normal counterpart, the Golden Pyromancer can detect hidden enemies from Level 0.
The Golden Pyromancer, in comparison to the Pyromancer, has increased normal damage, burn damage and burn time, cheaper placement cost and the first three of its upgrades are cheaper, but it is slightly more expensive to upgrade on the last two Levels. This is considered to be an all rounder tower.

Strategy
- The Golden Pyromancer is considered an early to mid-game tower, because of its cost efficiency and moderate damage.
- The Golden Pyromancer fares best against hordes of weaker enemies as it can damage them all at once. Groups of Mysteries, Heavies and Shadows are easily defeated by a Level 3 Golden Pyromancer, while a Level 4-5 one can take on even hordes of Normal Bosses or Abnormal Bosses.
- Although it is unable to outright defeat hordes of higher-health enemies like Giant Bosses, it can still do substantial damage to them.
- Be aware that if an enemy is quick enough, such as the Error or Circuit, they may get out of the Golden Pyromancer's range before they are set on fire.
- The Golden Pyromancer will set every enemy in its range on fire. In what order the Golden Pyromancer will choose its target is based on its targeting.
- If there is only one detectable enemy in the Golden Pyromancer's range, then it will always target that enemy. This also occurs if all current enemies in the Golden Pyromancer's range is set on fire.
- As the Golden Pyromancer can set lots of enemies on fire at once, due to its pierce and targeting of multiple enemies, it can be very effective against hordes of enemies such as the Mystery.
- When an enemy is on fire, it cannot be frozen by freezing towers like the Freezer. Additionally, when a frozen enemy is set on fire it will thaw, making freezing towers less effective with the Golden Pyromancer.
- The Golden Pyromancer has hidden detection from Level 0, allowing it to deal with hidden enemies quite well early on.
- The Golden Pyromancer can also be used to drop an enemy's defense by half when it is Level 3+.
- The Golden Pyromancer can be used alongside other defense dropping towers, like the Freezer, Electroshocker or Toxic Gunner to drop it further, though it cannot be used alongside the regular Pyromancer and the Trapper.
- As such, with these towers, an enemy's defense can be removed entirely.
- This can be useful since it can harshly decrease the defense of enemies with very high defense like the Vindicator, Fallen Guardian or Slow King.
- Do note that this may be impractical as it requires you to bring several support towers, even though the tower slot could be used for more important DPS towers.

- The Golden Pyromancer is less effective against those with burn immunity, such as the Molten.
- However, the Golden Pyromancer can still deal non-burn damage to them.
- The Golden Pyromancer is best placed near the beginning of the path. This lets it kill weaker enemies and decrease defense of enemies before they reach your other towers.
- The Golden Pyromancer will not be able to set enemies on fire when placed on high grounds, like ones on The Heights.
- Because of the Level 5 Pyromancer's flame size, it can set flying enemies on fire, if there is a detectable enemy near it.
- Golden Pyromancers that are below Level 5 will not be able to set them on fire, as their flame size is too small to be able to hit them. However, the Lead Balloon can still be set on fire if it had lost one of its balloons.
- The Golden Pyromancer's burn damage does not stack with other Golden Pyromancers or other towers that deal burn damage, like the Archer.
Trivia
- The Golden Pyromancer is the only tower that has hidden detection at Level 0.
- The Accelerator, Paintballer, Outlaw (now the Ranger), Jester, and Necromancer used to have hidden detection at Level 0, however hidden detection was either moved to another level or removed from these towers.
- The Level 5 upgrade's name comes from Kagu-tsuchi, in classical Japanese mythology.
