Indian companies are increasing their overseas investments to gain access to the US and EUmarkets. The targeted firms are being usedas platforms to gain access into these foreignmarkets by leveraging the market positions alreadyestablished by these firms on their respectivedomestic turfs.
The value of overseas buyoutsby Indian companies increased from US$ 1.7 billionin 2004 to US$ 4.5 billion in 2005. This representsan increase of 164 per cent.
