Getting in close can work but only if many enemies have been marked. Many Pyro skills are not strong enough to take an enemy down with a single cast, so the Pyromancer should cast skills at a distance to mark multiple enemies in the crowd before moving closer. That way, they will have multiple health regeneration targets to choose from as they get closer to danger.
The Pyromancer’s numerous immobilization skills will help to keep crowds out of cover and vulnerable to gunfire. Other damage dealing spells will chip away at many enemies at once, helping to weaken all enemies on the field. This makes them an ideal support class for multiplayer.
- This might sounds obvious - but fire is good. The more people you have on fire, the more you'll get health back once you wipe them out, so if you spot an enemy who is not on fire, change that!
- Pyromancers lack movement skills to get them around the battlefield with the ease of a Trickster or Devastator. Because of this, you'll want to be constantly mobile yourself, and use immobilizing skills to keep enemies at bay, placing them in a mid-range spot to make the most of your abilities.
- It goes without saying, but due to their abilities working best at mid range, avoid using close or long range weapons like Shotguns and Sniper Rifles if you can help it.
- Volcanic Rounds are extremely helpful for inflicting burn on targets all around you - but it only lasts for one magazine (without the right mods). Be sure you're packing weapons with a large clip size to make the most of your rounds when using that skill.

Skill Tree Specialisations | |
---|---|
Ash Breaker | Increases Weapon Damage, especially at longer ranges. Increases Immobilise Skills and Ash potency. |
Fire Storm | Increases Health and Skill Leech. Increases Ignite Skills and Burn potency. |
Tempest | Increases Anomaly Power. Increases Explosive Skills and Burn potency, unlocks Resurrection. |
Each of the three skill trees have their own strengths, but our pick for the best tree is the Ash Breaker, as it allows you to increase your anomaly power even more, and the potency of your Ash effect. Having the Ash effect means enemies will be slowed to the point you can rapidly pick them off while using your Volcanic Rounds to deal increased damage to burn targets.
Taking the nodes for Assault Master is important as Assault Rifles are one of the best weapons a Pyromancer can use thanks to their great range and magazine size. Incinerate is incredible useful as it inflicts Ash on burned enemies - which lasts longer and lets you deal more damage thanks to the smaller nodes. Ashes to Ashes will further make them vulnerable - letting you take down enemies and bosses alike with constant infliction of burn and ash.
The rest of the tree you can customize as you wish, and even go into other trees, or finish the tree and grab Leeching Force to further boost your abilities when using Immobilzation skills.
